Mixing colors and patterns has always been a fascination with me. Getting different fabric patterns go together is like getting little ones to play together nicely. Sometimes it works, sometimes it needs a time out. Returning to my work with a fresh eye is usually key to making these purses. Some are collaged with boho arrangements, some are cropped to include precise patterning and some are pieced together from special fabrics (such as the vintage wedding dress purse).
A pillow can change the feel of a room, or can change a season in a flash. Some of the pillows I make come in shapes, are embroidered, have pockets or are custom made with special fabrics in remembrance of the special people in our lives.
I refused to get into quilts and throws – that is – until a friend asked me to give it a try. Once I did, I was captivated. Quilts have come a long way over the years, and with me the bolder the better. But, then again I like neutral throws…so anything goes.
Sometimes my pieces are precise and sometimes they are controlled chaos. Because I love pattern play, I created the fun apron with matching embroidery threads and varied, yet coordinating fabrics. While the bookmark contains “snippets” of vintage fabrics in a decorative collage. Sometimes I stick to traditional pieces and add a twist (as in the gray, velvet pumpkin, or the fringe-y table runner).
